This pioneering place introduced Brewnuts to Sydney – that winning combination of a croissant and a doughnut that is popular in New York and quickly found fans in Sydney. People travel to Brewtown especially to try the Nutella or passion fruit ones. Thankfully, this obsession with Brewnuts hasn’t affected coffee quality. Brewtown’s owners worked at Toby's Estate, before opening Gnome in Surry Hills, so they know their stuff. They imported the Kees van de Westen Spirit machine here, and use a special Casablanca blend for milk coffees and the Metropolis blend for black coffees. The beans are from Panama and there’s always a single origin available, plus various filtered coffees. The airy and spacious café attracts people who want a nice coffee and something interesting from the breakfast or lunch menu. The black sausage has an incredible colour and flavour. Nothing is done half-heartedly at Brewtown.
