Comfort alert! This oh-so-relaxing coffee and tea house reflects the Park Slope atmosphere perfectly. Brooklynites come here to beaver at their laptops, devour a book on the cozy couches or just hang the hell out with friends. The talents of local bakers, artists, musicians, writers and performers are showcased all over the café, creating a great community-based ambience. There are regular live music performances, poetry readings, and educational lecture, among other events, to entertain the patrons. The Tea Lounge staff are serious about organic coffee and teas - their coffee is Fairtrade, Shade Tree Certified and micro roasted. And to top it all, it is sanctioned by the Smithsonian Institute as bird friendly. The coffee is made from their own House blend among others. They also have a mighty selection of fresh loose organic teas - over 65 of them! If you feel like grabbing a bite, there are locally baked goods, freshly made sandwiches, vegetarian dishes, soups, salads and even pita pizzas. At night the bar is open, serving wine, beer and cocktails, so it’s a great place where people can come together over a cup of delicious java or a glass of wine.
