Ember Coffee Mug

What Is The Ember Coffee Mug?

Having a heated coffee mug brings immense convenience to my day. I received the Ember mug over the holidays as my day tends to involve sitting in front of a computer for all of the hours. At first, I was skeptical; however, it quickly proved itself to be an irreplaceable part of my morning routine. As a slow coffee drinker, it’s nice that my coffee stays toasty warm for as long as needed.

How Does The Ember Mug Work?

The Ember coffee mug is an electronically heated coffee mug that has a heating element installed in the base of the mug. It is smart enough to detect liquid inside the cup, and the heating element turns on to warm the contents to a specified temperature from within the Ember app. Thankfully it’s one and done, you do not need to fiddle with the app every day. I just make my coffee, it turns on, and it turns itself off when empty. Very very simple!

How To Use The Ember Coffee Mug

The Ember coffee mug has a charger ‘saucer’ that plugs into a wall outlet. It is the charge station, and can be used to keep the mug going through out the day.

On the bottom of the mug is a silicone power button. To turn the mug on, simply press and hold the button for 1-3 seconds and the LED on the side will illuminate. When the mug is empty it’ll glow whatever color you choose in the app. Mine is set to purple. When the mug is actively heating, it will illuminate as white, and when the mug is charging or dead it will glow red.

How Long Does The Ember Mug Keep Coffee Hot?

Collectively it seems the Ember battery lasts about an hour or hour and a half of constant heating. I will typically make an early morning coffee at around 7am, then a late morning coffee around 11am and the mug needs a charge by my third cup at 1pm. While this is more than enough for me, I decided to keep the saucer near my workstation so it is always topped off.

What Colors Does The Ember Coffee Mug Come In?

There is the black Ember mug, White, red, and gray versions. There is also a metallic series with copper, rose gold, the Ember travel mug. Sizes range in 6oz, 10oz, and 14oz. The Ember travel mug is 12oz and has a 3 hour battery.

Can I Put The Ember In The Microwave?

Definitely not. It’s got metal and a battery inside which is a bad combination. Do not microwave it!

Do I Need a Smartphone To Use Ember?

The mug will automatically heat to 135 degrees. The app allows temperatures to be set, presets for tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. It also has a built in tea timer, and the ability to customize the LED color!
