Ben & Jerry’s may also be the most popular coffee ice cream. In their case, a single scoop of their Buzzbuzzbuzz Coffee Ice Cream would load you up with 17.75 mg of caffeine. 

That’s slightly more than the rest but still well within the FDA’s recommendation of no more than 400 mg daily.

Breyer’s Coffee Ice Cream

Breyer’s coffee ice cream is also light on caffeine and is one of the more affordable options. A single scoop only comes with 7.62 mg of caffeine.

Can You Enjoy Coffee Ice Cream Without Caffeine?

Suppose you plan to go completely caffeine free, yet you enjoy coffee. Is there a way to enjoy coffee ice cream without caffeine?

Generally, it is quite hard to get caffeine-free coffee ice cream. This is because the amount of caffeine in coffee is already quite small, which means not many people will demand a caffeine-free version of coffee ice cream. 

This is unlike regular decaf coffee. There is a demand for decaf coffee since coffee drinks have more caffeine. This means those with caffeine sensitivity will feel the effects of the drug.

What is an Iced Americano?

An iced Americano is a type of coffee beverage made by adding cold water to brewed espresso. It is similar to a regular Americano, which is made by adding hot water to brewed espresso, but served over ice. To make an iced Americano, you will need:

Grind 4 coffee cups worth of whole bean coffee.

Fill the water of the moka pot to below the safety valve.

Add the coffee grounds, but do not tamp!

Add heat… approx 4-6 minutes. When it gurgles, remove from heat. Run the base under cold water at the sink to stop the brewing process in its tracks.

Fill a glass with 1/2 cup of ice

Pour — WARNING: If pouring hot liquid into glass, beware you may shatter the glass! Place a metal spoon in the glass to help distribute the heat and avoid hurting yourself!

Dilute if necessary, or add more ice & enjoy!

Best Milk For Cold Foam

While whole milk will create a rich and creamy foam, it will not have the same sturdiness and stability as non-fat milk. It will also be less voluminous and tend to collapse faster. Non-fat milk has a higher protein content than whole milk, which makes it better at holding its structure when whipped, resulting in a more stable foam that can last longer. Once the foam is ready, you can carefully pour it over your cold drink.

Keep in mind that French press is usually used for hot beverage, using it for cold foam could be a tricky task and may not give you the desired result. There are specific tools for making cold foam, such as a milk frother or a whipped cream dispenser.

This might be the simplest method, because French press and cold brew presses are pretty common.

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 cup of cold milk (whole milk or non-dairy milk)
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
    • 1 tsp sugar or sweetener of your choice (optional)

    Instructions:

What Is a Cold Brew Latte?

Cold brew lattes comprise of cold brew concentrate and your choice of milk such as 2%, oat milk, almond milk, or soy milk. Typically the ratio is 1/3 concentrate and 2/3 milk. They can also be made with non-dairy milks such as almond or soy, making them suitable for those who are lactose intolerant or have dietary restrictions.

What Is Cold Brew?

Cold brewed coffee is coffee brewed in cold water for an extended period of time, usually 12-24 hours. This process results in a coffee that is smoother, less acidic, and less bitter than regular hot brewed coffee. The result is a potent cold brew concentrate which can be diluted with water if need be.

What Is a Latte?

A regular latte is made with espresso and milk where it’s about 1:4 coffee to milk. Typically 2% is the best type of milk to use with this drink because it is a lot easier to froth than whole milk. Of course if you’re into other types of milk or have dietary restrictions, this can be made with whatever you’ve got.

How To Make a Cold Brew Latte

If you’re looking to spice up your coffee game with something new, and you happen to like strong caffeinated drinks that are perfect for the summer then look no further! The best part is that a cold brew latte tends to be easier on the digestive system, depending on the milk you decide to use.

To make the latte, we’ll first need the concentrate. Keep in mind that cold brew typically takes 12-24 hours to fully steep, however there are machines out there that can brew it in as little as 25-45 minutes. How To Make Cold Brew Coffee

Steps:

Coffee Beans: First, we’ll need to grind up some fresh coffee. Start with your preferred bean and measure out 1 cup. 1 cup = ~ 10 cups of coffee. We really like Costa Rica Aurora by Peet’s coffee because it is low acidity, bold and super smooth. It’s important to use a coarsely ground bean for maximum coffee bean flavor extraction!

  • Four cups of water in a French Press or cold brew coffee maker. I’m using my trusty Bodum bean cold brew coffee maker, but you can just as easily make this in a French press if you’ve got one.
  • Place the grinds into the water.
  • Put the cover on, and press the plunger until it touches the top surface of the water. We want the coffee beans to sink quickly.
  • Place in the fridge for 12-24 hours.

 

Latte Time!

Now that you’ve got your cold brew concentrate we can make the latte!

  • Ingredients:
    • Cold brew coffee
    • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
    • 1-2 tbsp sweetener (optional)
    • Ice (optional)

    Instructions:

    • In a small pan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is steaming. Alternatively, you can use a handheld frother to froth the milk.

    • Add the sweetener to the cold brewed coffee, if using.
    • Add ice, if desired.
    • Prefill some of the frothed milk in to the glass. Allow it to settle for half a minute.

    • Pour into a glass.

    • Add some milk foam on top.
    • Enjoy!

The ratio for cold brew concentrate typically varies depending on personal taste preferences and the strength of the coffee beans used. However, a common ratio for cold brew concentrate is 1:4 coffee to water.

Cold Brew Coffee Recipe:

  1. To make cold brew concentrate using this ratio, you would need to combine 1 part coarsely ground coffee beans with 4 parts cold water. For example, if you were using 1 cup of coffee beans, you would need to add 4 cups of cold water.
  2. Once you have combined the coffee and water, stir the mixture until the coffee grounds are fully saturated. Then, cover the container and let the mixture steep in the refrigerator for at least 12-24 hours.
  3. After the steeping time is complete, strain the cold brew concentrate through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove the coffee grounds. The resulting cold brew concentrate can be diluted with water or milk to make a cup of cold brew coffee, or it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks.
  4. Press the plunger down and enjoy.

While cold brew is shown to be made in a cold brew coffee maker, you can also just use a French press if you already have on on hand. To make cold brew in a French press, you’d make coffee just as you normally would but do not depress the filter until after 24 hours.

Cold brew coffee typically requires a longer steeping time than regular coffee, because it is brewed using cold water rather than hot water. The exact steeping time will depend on your personal taste preferences, but a good starting point is to steep the coffee for about 12-24 hours.

Iced coffee uses the hot brewing process and is typically traditional coffee that has been cooled either by sitting out and reaching room temperature and poured over ice.

How Much Caffeine Is There In Cold Brew?

The amount of caffeine in cold brew coffee can vary depending on the type of beans used, the brewing time, and the ratio of coffee to water. On average, cold brew coffee contains about 65 milligrams of caffeine per 8-ounce serving, which is about the same as a cup of drip coffee. How To Use a Cold Brew Coffee Maker

Making Coffee In The Cuisinart Cold Brew Maker

  Coffee Beans

  • 3-8 cups of coffee beans
  • 3-7 cups of water (room temp or chilled)

  Instructions

  1. Measure 3-8 cups of coffee.
  2. If using a grinder, grind your coffee.
  3. Remove the coffee basket from the upper section.
  4. Remove the top of the basket, fill with desired coffee grounds and put the top back on.
  5. Fill the upper chamber with water. Note it shows you the level with and without the basket inserted! 
  6. If you haven’t yet, put the coffee basket back into the upper chamber. Make sure the top is on both the coffee basket, and the machine itself.
  7. Select your brew type. Mild 25 mins, Medium 35 mins, Bold 45 mins.
  8. When brewing is finished the machine will beep three times. Push the lock lever to the unlocked position and the coffee will filter down to the carafe.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

  Notes:

  • Make sure the lever on the front of the machine is in the locked position.
  • If you live life ‘Full Send’ make 7 cups 🙂

  • Use a Burr grinder for optimal results
